To introduce the attractive essence of Japanese cuisine and authentic Japanese ingredients, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries held a four-day event entitled "The Essence of Japanese Food - Discover authentic Japanese ingredients" at The International Culinary Centre, a culinary school in New York City, on January 22nd to 25th, 2010. The Umami Information Center joined this event and organized a lecture on umami.
