World-renowned both for its exceptional continental-style beauty and its culinary traditions, there could hardly be a better place for an umami seminar than gay Paris. Indeed, with the burgeoning prevalence of collaborations between those involved with French and Japanese cuisine, it seems that the time was also right. With the participation of reputed French chefs, an umami seminar, co-organized by the Ecole Ferrandi and the European Committee of Umami and supported by the UIC, was held in the Ecole Gregoire-Ferrandi school on Monday 28th January.

Report on the Umami Symposium organised by the Filipino Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) which took place on 25 January (exact date:confirmation needed) in Manila’s Blue Leaf Events Pavilion.
The first umami symposium ever to be held in the Philippines saw a high-profile audience of around 55 scientists, nutritionists, chefs and media members come together in Manila’s stylish Blue Leaf Pavilion. Those partaking were engaged knowledgeably and enthusiastically in the topics discussed, resulting in a stimulating and rewarding seminar for all concerned.
